Focus and Scope

UPGTO Management Review is a scholarly peer-reviewed Open Access journal. It's published quarterly and aims to publish studies in Management and Social Sciences. It's edited by the Editorial Board of Publications UPG from Universidad Politecnica de Guanajuato.

 

The journal aims to disseminate the progress of Science and Technology through the publication of original and unpublished contributions. The contributions belong to the different research strands in Management and Social Sciences. Likewise, the journal publishes results from relevant research projects as well as content of relevant research trends in the field.

 

The submissions could be articles and reviews related to Management topics that fall under the following research strands:

  2. Management, Diversity and Interculturality
  3. Administration and Legal Management
  4. Administration and Entrepeneur Development
  5. Administration and Social Responsibility
  6. Administration and International Trade
  7. Administration and Logistics

 

Journal History

UPGTO Management Review isa scholarly peer-reviewed Open Access journal. It has ISSN since 2015. Likewise, the journal publishes content in different formats such as pdf and html. In addition, the articles have Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs). The manuscripts are licensed with Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. The journal is indexed in important academic databases such as LATINDEX, REDIB, CLASE, DOAJ, DIALNET.

 

Peer Review Process

The workflow in the publication process and peer-review happens as the following:

1. The submission are original and will be sent exclusively to UPGTO Management Review.

2. The submission will be sent in Word to the journal website or to the following email address: umrmagazine@upgto.edu.mx

3. Authors must provide their full name, ORCID, important CV information such as area of expertise, qualifications, current job, phone number, address and email.

4. The submission will be assessed by the editor-in-chief. If the submission doesn't meet the minimum requirements outlined in the submission preparation checklist, the editor-in-chief will reject the submission. If the submission meets the requirements, then the editor-in-chief could ask the author to carry out corrections in the paper.

5. All accepted submissions will go through a double-blind peer-review process (guaranteeing the anonymity of the author and peer-reviewer from each other). The decision from the peer-reviewer will be sent to the author and it will be final.

6. The editor-in-chief could ask a second peer-reviewer to assess the manuscript. In case peer-reviewers do not concur concerning the final decision, the editor-in-chief could request the inclusion of a third peer-reviewer. Nevertheless, the editor-in-chief has the final decision to publish or not the manuscript.

7. The last stage involves providing the manuscript for corrections and editing with the proofreader and copy editor.

8. The manuscript will be published in the jornal. The are no fees accessing the content published in the journal. In addition, there are no article processing charges to review neither to publish articles.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Therefore, all the contents of the journal are freely accessible and are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License

 

Publication frequency

UPGTO Management Review is published quarterly. The issues are published every four months, at the end of April, August and December.

 

Rejection of submissions

If the manuscript doesn't meet the requirements outlined in the submission preparation checklist, the author will receive a notice explaining the reasons behind this decision. Based on the journal metrics, the rejection rate is calculated based on the following formula:

Plagiarism and originality report

All submissions will be assessed on Turnitin in order to detect plagiarism. The journal accepts submissions with no more than 25% of plagiarism. If the manuscript has a plagiarism report more than 25%, the authors will have the opportunity to reduce it and resubmit the work to the journal

 

Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

The publication of an article in the peer-reviewed scholarly UPGTO Management Review is a process of permanent knowledge improvement.  The journal encourages open publishing digital articles. Additionally, it considers its duty to promote the transmission of scientific knowledge, ensuring its rigor and quality, under the ethical commitment of the scientific and academic communities. The protocols and guidelines described make reference to the Code of Conduct for editors of scientific journals that established the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Duties and responsibilities
UPGTO Management Review is committed to:
• assuring the quality of the scientific material published
• guaranteeing freedom of expression
• maintaining the academic integrity of the content, ensuring that the published material follows internationally accepted ethical norms
• publishing corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when needed

Obligations of authors
Authors must guarantee the authorship of the documents presented. Authorship corresponds to those who have made a significant contribution to the work. If the work has significant contributions from more than one author, these contributors should appear as co-authors.
Authors must provide contact information in order to facilitate communication with other researchers in relation to their published work. This contact information will appear with the published work.

Originality and plagiarism
Authors must ensure that they have obtained permission to publish any materials presented in their work, as well as having exercised the right to quote other author´s work.
Those manuscripts in which plagiarism is detected will be rejected. Likewise, an author should not submit originals to describe essentially the same work as previously published.

Peer review process
The decision of the editorial board to accept or reject a paper for publication is based only on the importance of the work, originality and clarity, as well as the relevance of the study in relation to the editorial.
Any material submitted for publication will be considered confidential while under review, and, in the case of rejection, no evaluator can publish the original.
The evaluators’ identities must be protected at all times, ensuring their anonymity.

Complaints
UPGTO Management Reviewshould respond promptly to complaints.
In any case, if the individuals involved are unable to satisfy their claims, they have the right to raise their protests to higher authorities.

Protecting individual data
UPGTO Management Review guarantees the confidentiality of individual information. It is the authors’ responsibility to obtain authorizations to publish images and trademarks used in their work, and any other personal data (e.g. age, sex, social status of study participants).

Monitoring malpractice
UPGTO Management Review accepts the obligation to act accordingly in cases of suspected malpractice or misconduct. Any manuscripts that raise questions about possible misconduct will be rejected.
UPGTO Management Review will make every reasonable effort to ensure that the manuscripts submitted for evaluation are rigorous and ethically appropriate.

Integrity and academic rigor
Any time a published article is suspected of containing major misstatements or misleading or distorted information, it must be corrected immediately.
Any manuscript whose content is found to be fraudulent will be removed immediately from the indexing systems and it will not be available for reading.
